KRIBI<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b5ebcd5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"b5ebcd5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>1. Cuando llegu\u00e9 a Camer\u00fan, el obispo Thomas Mongo me destin\u00f3 a Kribi, donde viv\u00ed dos a\u00f1os y medio junto con los sacerdotes diocesanos cameruneses Etienne Mandua \u2013de origen mabea\u2013, Oscar Misoka \u2013de origen bakoko\u2013, y Antoine Minyagadu \u2013de origen duala. El obispo me dijo que deb\u00eda aprender la lengua ewondo. Comenc\u00e9 el aprendizaje en el pueblo de Afaneman, que se encontraba junto a la carretera hacia Edea. Sus habitantes dieron este nombre al pueblo porque en este lugar acababa el bosque y, adem\u00e1s, se encontraba a orillas del mar.<\/p><p>2. La parroquia de Saint Joseph de Kribi era muy grande. Yo iba a visitar todos los pueblos de la parroquia, todos los que se encontraban cerca de la carretera hacia Edea (hasta Fifinda, en total, 36 km), la que va hacia Bipindi y Lolodorf (hasta Bandewouri, en total, 40 km), la de Ebolowa (hasta Akom II) y el camino hacia Campo (80 km).<\/p><p>3. Por aquel entonces, era imposible circular en coche por el camino que llevaba a Campo. La carretera llegaba hasta las cascadas de La Lobe. Despu\u00e9s, marchaba por la playa hasta la ciudad de Campo. Visitaba todos los pueblos que se encontraban a orillas del mar. Cuando llegaba a Campo, me quedaba all\u00ed cuatro o cinco d\u00edas. Ve\u00eda a los cristianos del lugar, celebraba misa, hac\u00eda catequesis y bautizaba a ni\u00f1os y ni\u00f1as\u2026 \u00a1Realmente hac\u00eda un buen trabajo como misionero! Tambi\u00e9n visitaba a la gente en sus hogares. Charl\u00e1bamos y fue as\u00ed como aprend\u00ed poco a poco las costumbres del pa\u00eds, como un ni\u00f1o que comienza a andar. En ocasiones, atravesaba el r\u00edo con una piragua. Aquel r\u00edo era enorme y marcaba la frontera con Guinea Ecuatorial. En aquella \u00e9poca, Guinea era a\u00fan una colonia espa\u00f1ola, mientras que Camer\u00fan era ya independiente.<\/p><p>Tambi\u00e9n recorr\u00eda la orilla del r\u00edo Campo hasta Mabiogo. Despu\u00e9s, iba a un pueblo llamado Akak (a 23 km de Campo). Era un pueblo fang en pleno bosque.<\/p><p>4. Cuando regresaba a Kribi, sol\u00eda ir a New Bell. En la ciudad de Kribi conviv\u00edan varios pueblos: los batanga y los mabea, entre otros. New Bell era un barrio de la ciudad donde viv\u00edan los \u00abextranjeros\u00bb. Iba por all\u00ed bastante a menudo. Hab\u00eda una misi\u00f3n con una peque\u00f1a iglesia y una peque\u00f1a casa para el sacerdote. En aquel barrio se encontraban muchos pueblos: bassa, bakoko, hausa, bamileke, etc. No obstante, los beti (ewondo, enoa, ngoe, eton, etc.) eran los m\u00e1s numerosos. Todos aquellos extranjeros trabajaban para el gobierno, para los europeos, o se dedicaban al comercio. Algunos, simplemente, estaban all\u00ed, sin oficio. Era un barrio muy animado y hab\u00eda muchos bares. Se pod\u00eda beber vino tinto y cerveza Beaufort. Las chicas j\u00f3venes vend\u00edan naranjas, pescado ahumado o cacahuetes tostados en las esquinas de las calles. Me gustaba ir all\u00ed sobre todo por la tarde. Iba a ver a la gente a sus casas, no solo a los cristianos, sino a todo el mundo. Era muy bien recibido. Charl\u00e1bamos mucho. Antes, los misioneros solo atend\u00edan a los cristianos que iban a verlos para pedirles consejo. Yo cre\u00eda que tambi\u00e9n era necesario ir a casa de los dem\u00e1s, no para convertirlos al cristianismo, sino para escucharles y acercarme as\u00ed a sus vidas cotidianas.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9cf23d0 e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"9cf23d0\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4d53b00 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"4d53b00\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">2. NSOLA: EL PA\u00cdS EVUZOK<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-74f1cd4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"74f1cd4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>1. En 1963, el obispo me pidi\u00f3 que fuera a fundar una nueva parroquia a Nsola, lugar habitado por los evuzok. El mismo monse\u00f1or Thomas Mongo me acompa\u00f1\u00f3, junto con otros sacerdotes. No recuerdo qu\u00e9 d\u00eda fue, pero s\u00ed recuerdo es que fuimos con el coche hasta Mamel (despu\u00e9s de Bipindi), lugar donde acababa la carretera.<\/p><p>2. Desde all\u00ed caminamos 15 km por un sendero del bosque hasta la aldea de Kamelon, donde viv\u00eda el jefe superior de los evuzok, Ngele Fran\u00e7ois. La aldea se encontraba en el centro del pa\u00eds de los evuzok. All\u00ed nos esperaba mucha gente. Todo el pa\u00eds nos acogi\u00f3 muy bien, la gente exultaba y las mujeres lanzaban gritos de alegr\u00eda. Monse\u00f1or reuni\u00f3 a todo el mundo en la iglesia y dio a los cristianos consejos para organizar la nueva misi\u00f3n. M\u00e1s tarde, las gentes del pa\u00eds le mostraron el terreno para construir la misi\u00f3n.<\/p><p>3. Monse\u00f1or regres\u00f3 a Duala. Me dej\u00f3 en Nsola con otro sacerdote diocesano espa\u00f1ol, Philippe Planas, que se qued\u00f3 conmigo tres o cuatro meses. Luego, el obispo lo envi\u00f3 a Ngovayang.<\/p><p>4. Cuando llegamos a Nsola, la iglesia era como se puede apreciar en el croquis <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casafrica.es\/es\/mediateca\/documento\/24-anexo-6-aldea-36-croquis-et-leg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow noreferrer\">(\u25bcanexo 6, Aldea 36)<\/a> y la fotograf\u00eda <a El terreno que el pa\u00eds hab\u00eda mostrado al obispo para la construcci\u00f3n de la nueva misi\u00f3n estaba detr\u00e1s de la aldea de Kamelon. El terreno se elevaba ligeramente sobre una colina donde hab\u00eda un <em>elon<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casafrica.es\/es\/mediateca\/documento\/25-anexo-4188-elon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow noreferrer\">(\u25bcanexo n.\u00ba 4, \u00e1rbol n.\u00ba 188)<\/a>. Cuando el sacerdote diocesano Planas y yo fuimos destinados a Nsola para fundar all\u00ed una misi\u00f3n, llegamos sin nada, sin dinero, ni tan siquiera lo m\u00ednimo para equipar una casa. El obispo, Thomas Mongo, me dijo: \u00abTienes que ir a ver al padre Joseph a Duala y \u00e9l resolver\u00e1 esos asuntos\u00bb. El padre Joseph era un misionero holand\u00e9s, y se encargaba de los asuntos materiales de todas las misiones de la di\u00f3cesis de Duala. Un d\u00eda fui all\u00ed a visitarle y pedirle algo de dinero para instalarme y fundar la nueva misi\u00f3n de Nsola. Me recibi\u00f3 muy mal.<\/p><p>\u2014No hay dinero para esa nueva misi\u00f3n \u2014me dijo\u2014. Arr\u00e9glatelas con tus hermanos espa\u00f1oles; puedes crear tambi\u00e9n un nuevo impuesto para la creaci\u00f3n de la misi\u00f3n.<\/p><p>No me gustaron sus palabras.<\/p><p>2. Era mediod\u00eda. Son\u00f3 una peque\u00f1a campana. Todos los sacerdotes de la catedral fueron entonces al refectorio para comer. El padre Joseph me dijo adi\u00f3s y se march\u00f3 hacia el refectorio sin invitarme. En mi fuero interior pens\u00e9: \u00abeste sacerdote no conoce las costumbres del pa\u00eds\u2026\u00bb. Mientras que los sacerdotes com\u00edan, yo fui a comprar algunos bu\u00f1uelos y me qued\u00e9 en el patio. Esperaba a alguien que pasar\u00eda a buscarme y me llevar\u00eda hasta Kribi. Entonces, los misioneros salieron del refectorio. Monse\u00f1or Thomas Mongo tambi\u00e9n.<\/p><p>\u2014\u00a1Pero bueno! \u00a1\u00bfQu\u00e9 haces aqu\u00ed?! \u2014me dijo al verme.<\/p><p>Le expliqu\u00e9 mi visita al padre Joseph. Monse\u00f1or estaba realmente enfadado. No invitar a alguien a comer era grave.<\/p><p>\u2014Espera un poco hasta que pasen todos \u2014dijo\u2014. Ven, s\u00edgueme \u2014a\u00f1adi\u00f3.<\/p><p>Me acompa\u00f1\u00f3 hasta el refectorio. Monse\u00f1or abri\u00f3 el frigo, cogi\u00f3 unos platos y \u00e9l mismo me sirvi\u00f3 la comida.<\/p><p>\u2014Come tranquilamente y luego ven a despedirte a mi casa \u2014me dijo.<\/p><p>3. Se fue. Yo sent\u00eda una gran agitaci\u00f3n en mi interior: estaba enfadado por causa de este encuentro con el sacerdote tesorero de la di\u00f3cesis. Com\u00ed, com\u00ed\u2026 Y despu\u00e9s, lleno de rabia, cog\u00ed el tenedor con el que hab\u00eda comido y lo met\u00ed en mi bolsa mientras me dec\u00eda a m\u00ed mismo: \u00ab\u00a1Fundar\u00e9 la misi\u00f3n de Nsola con este tenedor de plata!\u00bb.<\/p><p>4. Este peque\u00f1o hurto fue para m\u00ed una especie de gesto contra la actitud de aquel tesorero de la di\u00f3cesis de Duala. M\u00e1s tarde, pas\u00e9 a decir adi\u00f3s al obispo. Charlamos un rato. \u00c9l sac\u00f3 de su bolsillo dos manzanas y me las dio. Aquel regalo era una muestra de su impotencia frente a la actitud del tesorero. \u00c9l no pod\u00eda hacer nada. En aquel tiempo, aunque el obispo fuera africano, el poder econ\u00f3mico estaba en manos de los misioneros europeos. Monse\u00f1or Thomas Mongo era un hombre justo. Era algo reservado y ten\u00eda un car\u00e1cter afable. Como la mayor\u00eda de los jefes del mundo, Ngele Fran\u00e7ois, el jefe de los evuzok, ten\u00eda litigios con mucha gente. Por esta raz\u00f3n, algunas personas no se atrev\u00edan a entrar en mi casa para saludarme, puesto que mi casa estaba en su aldea.<\/p><p>2. A m\u00ed no me agradaba esta situaci\u00f3n. Empec\u00e9 a buscar otra aldea donde pudiera instalarme. Cuando supo que buscaba otro lugar para vivir, Mba Tobies, un hombre de Aseng-Bede del linaje Mba <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casafrica.es\/es\/mediateca\/imagen\/42-anexo-15-imagen-02-mbattobies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow noreferrer\">(\u25bc anexo 15, foto n.\u00ba 02)<\/a>, me propuso instalarme en su casa. Se lo agradec\u00ed mucho. Este hombre hab\u00eda construido una casa con un tejado de chapa y muros de <em>poto-poto<\/em>; hab\u00eda construido tambi\u00e9n dos casas a ambos lados de la suya, una para su primera esposa y otra para la segunda. Durante este periodo las peque\u00f1as moscas llamadas <em>afig<\/em> estaban por todas partes. Las mujeres se encargaban de espantarlas con humo de algunas cortezas que quemaban. Recuerdo la siguiente historia: Memong Julienne <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casafrica.es\/es\/mediateca\/imagen\/45-anexo-15-imagen-04-julienne\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow noreferrer\">(\u25bc anexo 15, foto n.\u00ba 04)<\/a> era una anciana se\u00f1ora que viv\u00eda al lado de la cocina de mam\u00e1 Christine. Ven\u00eda muy a menudo a casa. Se sentaba en un taburete y descascaraba cacahuetes o semillas de calabaza. Le gustaba hacerme compa\u00f1\u00eda. Cuando yo le\u00eda o escrib\u00eda, ella guardaba silencio. Un d\u00eda, vino con un ni\u00f1o peque\u00f1o en brazos y se puso a cantarle una nana. Yo acababa de recibir de Espa\u00f1a un magnet\u00f3fono. Lo puse en marcha y grab\u00e9 aquella nana (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.casafrica.es\/es\/mediateca\/coleccion\/45-anexo-52060115-18\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow noreferrer\">\u25bc anexo 05, <em>mfolo m\u00f2n<\/em> 2.06.01.\/15-18<\/a>). En ocasiones, hac\u00edamos como si discuti\u00e9ramos, pero aquella discusi\u00f3n terminaba siempre con risas.<\/p><p>7. Un domingo, mientras celebraba misa, los vecinos vinieron a decirme que \u00abmi esposa\u00bb hab\u00eda fallecido. No dijeron \u00abMemong Julienne\u00bb ha muerto, sino \u00abtu esposa\u00bb. Interrump\u00ed la misa. Dije a los cristianos: \u00abMi esposa ha fallecido. Me voy a la aldea\u00bb. Los fieles lo encontraron normal. \u00a1Un sacerdote casado! Sent\u00ed mucho su muerte.<\/p><p>8. Aseng-Bede era una aldea muy agradable. Los patios de las casas estaban limpios. Lo mismo ocurr\u00eda en las otras aldeas del pa\u00eds. Cada ma\u00f1ana, temprano, con el primer canto del gallo, las mujeres desmalezaban el terreno con una azada. Detr\u00e1s de las casas, las plataneras hac\u00edan honor al pueblo. Hab\u00eda muchos parasoles (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.casafrica.es\/es\/mediateca\/documento\/48-anexo-0430401075\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow noreferrer\">\u25bc anexo 04, 3.04.01, 075<\/a>). Los grandes conocedores del pa\u00eds dec\u00edan lo siguiente respecto a este \u00e1rbol: \u00abLos turacos azules acaban de posarse en los parasoles y las chicas ya se atribuyen las largas plumas de su cola\u00bb. Viv\u00ed en Aseng-Bede durante todas las estaciones: la estaci\u00f3n seca (de diciembre a marzo), la estaci\u00f3n de las grandes lluvias (de septiembre a noviembre) y la peque\u00f1a estaci\u00f3n seca (de junio a septiembre). El tiempo dedicado a los grandes trabajos se prolongaba desde la estaci\u00f3n de las grandes lluvias hasta el momento en que aparec\u00edan las termitas, conocidas con el nombre de <em>akab<\/em>. En aquel periodo la lluvia ca\u00eda con fuerza, los r\u00edos se desbordaban y hab\u00eda barro por todas partes. Esta estaci\u00f3n era buena para la caza: abundaban los animales de cacer\u00eda.<\/p><p>Durante la estaci\u00f3n seca, se recolectaba vino de palma en grandes cantidades. Los hombres lo colectaban por la ma\u00f1ana y por la tarde. Hac\u00eda mucho calor. El sol brillaba con fuerza. Era el tiempo de grandes reuniones rituales, funerales, etc. Las mujeres cosechaban sus cultivos, sobre todo cacahuete y ma\u00edz.<\/p><p>10. En este pueblo aprend\u00ed muchas cosas del pa\u00eds. Yo era como un ni\u00f1o peque\u00f1o que aprend\u00eda poco a poco las costumbres de la mano de sus padres.<\/p><p>11. Sol\u00eda ir a casa de Bibina Bernard, del linaje ebanda, que se encontraba en la parte baja de la aldea de Aseng-Bede, para aprender la lengua ewondo. Las personas que me ve\u00edan, me dec\u00edan bromeando: \u00ab\u00a1Oh, t\u00fa, el escolar, est\u00e1s bien!\u00bb. \u00ab\u00a1Por supuesto!\u00bb, respond\u00eda yo. Me llamaban as\u00ed con raz\u00f3n: era un peque\u00f1o escolar. Un proverbio ewondo nos recuerda que \u00abLos extranjeros no pueden reconocer los manjares preparados con cacahuetes rancios\u00bb. \u00a1Yo quer\u00eda conocer los verdaderos manjares! No lo consegu\u00ed nunca. Me gustaban demasiado los cacahuetes, \u00a1incluso los rancios!<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a066c85 e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"a066c85\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8614153 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"8614153\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">5. DE UNA ALDEA A OTRA<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-bd1b493 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"bd1b493\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>1. Yo viv\u00eda en <strong>Aseng-Bede<\/strong>, pero me gustaba ir a visitar todas las aldeas del pa\u00eds evuzok situadas en la parte anterior y posterior del r\u00edo Nsola. Me quedaba dos o tres d\u00edas en cada una de ellas. Por la ma\u00f1ana celebraba misa en una simple mesa y en la misma casa donde me acog\u00edan. Los cristianos y otros habitantes de la aldea ven\u00edan a esta casa.<\/p><p>Durante el d\u00eda, visitaba todas las casas de la aldea, hablaba con unos y con otros, ve\u00eda lo que hac\u00edan en los campos y en las cocinas. LAS DIVISAS<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-720c915 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"720c915\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>1. Cuando iba de aldea en aldea en el pa\u00eds evuzok, la gente me saludaba y me dec\u00eda: \u00abHijo de los evuzok, \u00bfde d\u00f3nde vienes? \u00bfAd\u00f3nde vas?\u00bb. Me llamaban \u201chijo de los evuzok\u201d. Yo me dec\u00eda a m\u00ed mismo que la gente me llamaba de esta manera para bromear. Pero algunas personas me explicaron que me llamaban as\u00ed porque era mi <em>ndan<\/em> o divisa. La divisa es el nombre con el que se llama a alguien con el tam-tam. Tambi\u00e9n se puede asignar a alguien una divisa simplemente por afecto. Las personas que conocen el lenguaje de los tam-tam reproduciendo los tonos de las palabras, utilizan tu divisa. Cuando vas por el camino de vuelta, las personas que saben tocar el tambor de madera no dir\u00e1n \u00abLluis Mallart \u201cregresa\u201d\u00bb, sino \u00abMan evuzok vuelve ya\u00bb. Yo no hubiera sabido reproducir la m\u00fasica que hacen, pero algunos misioneros de anta\u00f1o, como el padre Graffin y el padre Pichon supieron hacerlo y transcribieron la m\u00fasica de algunos <em>m\u00ebndan<\/em>.<\/p><p>2. Cuando las personas se llamaban unas a otras por sus divisas, pero sin utilizar el tam-tam, aquella llamada recib\u00eda el nombre de <em>ekiga<\/em>. Los escuch\u00e9 varias veces, por ejemplo, cuando una mujer llamaba a otra de un campo a otro. No obstante, el <em>ekiga<\/em> suena sin las palabras de la divisa: sus s\u00edlabas se transforman en un \u201cke ke\u2026\u201d con su tono respectivo y una voz m\u00e1s bien aguda. Las divisas son, en ocasiones, proverbios a trav\u00e9s de los que nuestros antepasados nos ense\u00f1an cosas. La gente de antes ten\u00eda otras maneras de identificarse. Los <em>ndan<\/em> y los <em>ekiga<\/em> eran algo as\u00ed como \u00a1nuestros n\u00fameros de tel\u00e9fono m\u00f3vil! (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.casafrica.es\/es\/mediateca\/documento\/62-anexo-9-30900-et-01-presentation-et-texte-devises\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow noreferrer\">\u25bc anexo 9<\/a>). Aquel d\u00eda, charlando con toda la familia y algunos vecinos, nos pusimos a hablar de asuntos relacionados con los esp\u00edritus de los muertos. Me vi andando en pleno bosque, entre \u00e1rboles y lianas, solo, con much\u00edsimo miedo. Cuando el sol desapareci\u00f3, avanc\u00e9 a la luz de la luna toda la noche. Las habitaciones de la parte posterior de esta casa se convirtieron en dispensario. Desafortunadamente, tuvimos que cerrarlo porque el gobierno no nos dio permiso para construir cuando quisimos agrandarlo. No ten\u00edamos los medios suficientes para llevar a cabo una construcci\u00f3n seg\u00fan las normas que impon\u00edan las autoridades sanitarias.<\/p><p>3. Lo cierto es que yo no hac\u00eda nada en el dispensario. No conoc\u00eda nada de aquello, no era m\u00e9dico. Muchas personas ven\u00edan hasta Aseng-Bede para acudir al dispensario. Yo aprovechaba de aquellas ocasiones para hablar con los enfermos que pasaban a saludarme. Me contaban que sufr\u00edan de esto o aquello, que les dol\u00eda el est\u00f3mago, el pecho o por todas partes. Un enfermo me dijo, por ejemplo, que cre\u00eda que lo que ten\u00eda era <em>tsit<\/em>. Yo le preguntaba qu\u00e9 era aquella enfermedad, y \u00e9l me lo explicaba.<\/p><p>Lo mismo ocurr\u00eda con las otras enfermedades.<\/p><p>4. En ocasiones, ve\u00eda que las personas ven\u00edan al dispensario con un ni\u00f1o en brazos. Un d\u00eda, Mar\u00eda Cinta consult\u00f3 a un ni\u00f1o con suma atenci\u00f3n y se dio cuenta de que se encontraba en un estado muy grave: ten\u00eda fiebre, temblaba mucho, vomitaba bilis\u2026 Mar\u00eda sigui\u00f3 observando al ni\u00f1o. Dijo a sus padres que ten\u00eda un gran bazo. Comenz\u00f3 a tratarle con comprimidos e inyecciones. Dos d\u00edas m\u00e1s tarde, los padres vinieron al dispensario y dijeron a Mar\u00eda Cinta que quer\u00edan llevar a su hijo a su casa, porque pensaban que lo que el peque\u00f1o padec\u00eda era una enfermedad \u00abbeti\u00bb. Deb\u00edan tratarle a su manera porque los blancos no eran capaces de curar este tipo de enfermedades. Llevaron al ni\u00f1o a un reputado m\u00e9dico tradicional para que le curara seg\u00fan las costumbres del pa\u00eds. Ni Mar\u00eda Cinta ni yo mismo quisimos juzgar este suceso. Preferimos ser respetuosos frente a las costumbres del pa\u00eds. \u00bfSab\u00edamos acaso lo que era una enfermedad \u00abbeti\u00bb? No, no lo sab\u00edamos. Esto me llev\u00f3 a pensar que era realmente importante conocer la medicina del pa\u00eds <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casafrica.es\/es\/mediateca\/coleccion\/74-anexo-02-remedes-face-face\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow noreferrer\">(\u25bcanexo 2)<\/a>. Quer\u00eda aprender esta medicina para conocerla, pero no para practicarla.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8034ade elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"8034ade\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>5. Cuando visitaba a los evuzok en sus casas, si me encontraba con un enfermo, casi sin querer acababa aprendiendo temas sobre la medicina tradicional: aprend\u00eda c\u00f3mo las personas designaban las enfermedades que padec\u00edan, c\u00f3mo nuestros antepasados pensaban que aquellas enfermedades se desarrollaban en nuestro cuerpo y aprend\u00eda tambi\u00e9n c\u00f3mo se trataban con plantas. M\u00e1s tarde, escrib\u00eda todo aquello. En algunas ocasiones, iba a ver a las personas que elaboraban los remedios y a aquellos reputados m\u00e9dicos tradicionales para que me ense\u00f1aran cosas relacionadas con esta medicina del pa\u00eds.<\/p><p>6. Hab\u00eda aprendido que cuando se dice que algo es \u00abun asunto beti\u00bb, quiere decir que es \u00abun asunto del pa\u00eds\u00bb. Cuando alguien dice \u00absoy un descendiente beti (o de los beti)\u00bb, quiere decir que es originario del pa\u00eds. El matrimonio beti es, por tanto, el matrimonio tradicional del pa\u00eds. El hacha beti es un hacha fabricada por los antiguos herreros del pa\u00eds. El hacha europea es la que hoy se compra en los mercados. La enfermedad beti es la que los grandes m\u00e9dicos tradicionales pueden curar, siguiendo las costumbres del pa\u00eds, y que los europeos no saben curar.<\/p><p>2. Los primeros misioneros europeos dec\u00edan a los cristianos que \u00ablas costumbres beti\u00bb eran \u00abcostumbres paganas\u00bb. Si un cristiano asist\u00eda a un <em>tsoo<\/em> o a un <em>esie<\/em>, los misioneros dec\u00edan que hac\u00edan algo malo, que aquello era pecado. Y lo mismo ocurr\u00eda con todos los ritos que los antepasados aconsejaban hacer a sus \u201chijos\u201d. El t\u00e9rmino <em>haiden<\/em> (pagano) no era un t\u00e9rmino beti. Seg\u00fan el razonamiento de este pueblo, el t\u00e9rmino <em>ns\u00ebm<\/em> se utilizaba cuando una persona transgred\u00eda una prohibici\u00f3n muy grave.<\/p><p>3. Cuando los blancos dirig\u00edan Camer\u00fan, los misioneros, los que gobernaban, e incluso el jefe supremo, Charles Atangana, prohib\u00edan a la gente del pa\u00eds iniciarse seg\u00fan los ritos <em>so<\/em>, <em>m\u00eblan<\/em> o <em>m\u00ebvungu<\/em>, y les prohib\u00edan tambi\u00e9n asistir a los dem\u00e1s ritos de los beti. Solo deb\u00edan participar en los ritos de los blancos.<\/p><p>4. Los misioneros ense\u00f1aban a los cristianos que \u00abZamba hab\u00eda creado seres extraordinarios que no ten\u00edan un cuerpo visible, puesto que eran esp\u00edritus llamados \u201c\u00e1ngeles\u201d. Al comienzo, eran muy buenos y felices, pero no todos perseveraron en el bien. Algunos de ellos, pecando de orgullo, no quisieron obedecer la palabra de Dios. El arc\u00e1ngel Miguel y otros \u00e1ngeles buenos que le siguieron lucharon contra los malos, los vencieron y los enviaron al infierno. El jefe de los \u00e1ngeles malos se llama Sat\u00e1n, tambi\u00e9n conocido a veces como Lucifer (<em>Minla\u1e45 mi Bibel<\/em>, Historias de la Biblia)\u00bb.<\/p><p>5. Hay que decir aqu\u00ed que los antepasados no designaban a Dios con el nombre de <em>Zamba<\/em>, sino que le llamaban <em>Nkom Bodo<\/em> o <em>Ntondob\u00eb<\/em>. Seg\u00fan las historias antiguas, Zamba era el hijo de M\u00ebb\u00ebg\u00eb. Este hijo engendr\u00f3 a Mod Zamba, Waa Zamba, Ngi Zamba y a Nkoe Zamba (el hombre-hijo de Zamba, el chimpanc\u00e9-hijo-de-Zamba, el gorila-hijo-de-Zamba, y el pigmeo-hijo-de-Zamba). Aprend\u00ed, a trav\u00e9s de las historias de los ancianos evuzok, que las personas pensaban otrora que, al inicio, estos seres habitaban juntos en un mismo pueblo y que solo se dispersaron por causa de una querella relativa al fuego o a las primeras semillas.<\/p><p>6. En varias ocasiones hab\u00eda o\u00eddo decir que \u00abel <em>evu<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casafrica.es\/es\/mediateca\/documento\/86-annexe-08-evu-30800-et-01-la-notion-devu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow noreferrer\">(\u25bc anexo 08)<\/a> era un esp\u00edritu malvado, el mism\u00edsimo Sat\u00e1n\u00bb. Las personas hablaban as\u00ed porque lo hab\u00edan o\u00eddo decir de la boca de los sacerdotes. Yo me preguntaba si los antepasados habr\u00edan o\u00eddo hablar de Sat\u00e1n, y \u00a1por supuesto que no! Al igual que ocurre con el t\u00e9rmino <em>haiden<\/em>, el t\u00e9rmino <em>sat\u00e1n<\/em> no forma parte del vocabulario de los beti. Son palabras utilizadas por los europeos para explicar sus propias creencias. Por eso, me preguntaba tambi\u00e9n \u00ab\u00bfpensar\u00eda la gente de antes que las personas nacidas con un <em>evu<\/em> estaban habitadas por sat\u00e1n o por otro esp\u00edritu malvado que se le pareciera?\u00bb. Seg\u00fan la fe cristiana, sat\u00e1n aparece como la representaci\u00f3n del mal, e incluso a veces como el propio mal. Tambi\u00e9n asist\u00eda a sesiones de <em>mvet<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casafrica.es\/es\/mediateca\/coleccion\/88-annexe-14-mvet\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow noreferrer\">(\u25bcanexo 14)<\/a> en casa de Amugu Pancrace, en M\u00eblondo, en casa de Ngul Zamba en Kpwa, en casa de Owona Appollinaire, en Aseng-Bede, cuando ven\u00eda a visitarme, y en Minsola, en casa de Bikoe Paul. Tocaban muy bien y con gran destreza aquel instrumento. La gente dec\u00eda que \u00abuna persona que toca el <em>mvet<\/em> no pod\u00eda hacerlo sin poseer un <em>evu<\/em> muy fuerte\u00bb.<\/p><p>9. Nos podr\u00edamos preguntar entonces si aquellos m\u00fasicos que tocaban el <em>mvet<\/em> no estaban pose\u00eddos por sat\u00e1n. \u00bfSer\u00e1 que quienes poseen un <em>evu ak\u00ebn<\/em> (una persona capacitada para hacer ciertas cosas que los dem\u00e1s no saben hacer) est\u00e1 pose\u00edda por sat\u00e1n? \u00bfLlevar\u00edan ya estas personas que pose\u00edan el <em>evu<\/em> a sat\u00e1n desde su gestaci\u00f3n?<\/p><p>10. Cabe pensar que los misioneros hab\u00edan predicado ciertas cosas que no eran ciertas, por ejemplo, cuando comparaban al <em>evu<\/em> con sat\u00e1n. A este respecto, los misioneros llegaban a decir que todas las variedades de <em>evu<\/em> eran malas.<\/p><p>11. Hoy pienso que todo lo que respecta al <em>evu<\/em> es la forma en que los antepasados conceb\u00edan al hombre y a la sociedad de entonces. Si las personas de anta\u00f1o explicaban las cosas de este mundo o la vida misma haciendo referencia al <em>evu<\/em>, actualmente las personas lo pueden concebir como la capacidad de hacer cosas, buenas y malas, y que una parte de esta capacidad proviene de uno mismo, mientras que la otra proviene de nuestro entorno.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6cfffd2 e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"6cfffd2\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9bb7646 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"9bb7646\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">9. LAS COSAS DE LA IGLESIA<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-bd86ec9 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"bd86ec9\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>1. El obispo Mongo Thomas me hab\u00eda enviado a la zona de los evuzok para fundar all\u00ed una parroquia.<\/p><p>2. Cuando llegu\u00e9 a Camer\u00fan, muchos asuntos de la Iglesia se inspiraban en las costumbres europeas. Los p\u00e1rrocos celebraban misa en lat\u00edn, los cantos eran gregorianos, muchos s\u00edmbolos segu\u00edan las tradiciones europeas&#8230; Hab\u00eda incluso pr\u00e1cticas inspiradas en los tiempos coloniales: la casa de los p\u00e1rrocos estaba separada del resto de la gente y los \u201cind\u00edgenas\u201d no pod\u00edan acceder a ella. Los misioneros sol\u00edan tener un estilo de vida semejante al de los grandes funcionarios: viv\u00edan en una casa construida con ladrillos (Kribi, Ngovayang, etc.) y ten\u00edan ch\u00f3fer, cocinero e incluso una persona para hacerles la colada. Los cristianos deb\u00edan pagar a la iglesia un impuesto llamado <em>denier de culte<\/em>.<\/p><p>3. Este impuesto era obligatorio para recibir los sacramentos (bautizar a los ni\u00f1os, casarse, confesarse, etc.). Tal impuesto no era una donaci\u00f3n, sino una obligaci\u00f3n. \u00bfLos cristianos deb\u00edan entonces comprar lo sagrado?<\/p><p>4. A m\u00ed no me gustaba hacer distinciones entre cristianos del pa\u00eds y cristianos provenientes de otros pa\u00edses, entre negros y blancos. Un d\u00eda, mientras estaba en Kribi, escuch\u00e9 una de las confesiones. Una mujer francesa hab\u00eda venido a confesarse. Le pregunt\u00e9, al igual que lo hac\u00eda con los dem\u00e1s cristianos:<\/p><p>\u2014\u00bfHas pagado tu \u00abimpuesto de culto\u00bb?<\/p><p>\u2014\u00a1\u00bfC\u00f3mo!? \u2014respondi\u00f3 ella, y a\u00f1adi\u00f3\u2014: \u00bfDebo pagar para pedir el perd\u00f3n de mis pecados?<\/p><p>Se enfad\u00f3 mucho conmigo.<\/p><p>5. Aquella mujer ten\u00eda raz\u00f3n. Me pregunto por qu\u00e9 los cristianos de anta\u00f1o no se opon\u00edan a este impuesto como ella lo hizo. Simplemente, obedec\u00edan. Cuando llegu\u00e9 a Camer\u00fan en 1961, la Iglesia camerunesa acababa de recibir, a modo de herencia, la Iglesia de los misioneros, la de antes de la independencia.<\/p><p>6. Pero lo m\u00e1s grave es que esta herencia inclu\u00eda tambi\u00e9n una ense\u00f1anza que preconizaba ciertos modos de pensamiento y defend\u00eda que aquellos beti no eran m\u00e1s que supersticiones, magia y brujer\u00eda, es decir, \u201ccostumbres paganas\u201d que deb\u00edan desaparecer, tal y como se ha explicado m\u00e1s arriba.<\/p><p>7. Cabe recordar que, en Camer\u00fan, en aquellos tiempos, dirig\u00edan la Iglesia los misioneros de la Congregaci\u00f3n del Esp\u00edritu Santo, cuyo superior general en aquel entonces era monse\u00f1or Marcel Lefevbre, que m\u00e1s tarde se opondr\u00eda de forma abierta a las conclusiones del Concilio Vaticano II, generando as\u00ed un cisma en el seno de la Iglesia. Se puede as\u00ed pensar que la herencia recibida era m\u00e1s bien la de una Iglesia conservadora. Era necesario decolonizarla, es decir, africanizarla. Cuando llegu\u00e9 a Nsola, yo quer\u00eda hacer las cosas de forma diferente.<\/p><p>8. Esa fue la raz\u00f3n por la que decid\u00ed vivir en casa de un pol\u00edgamo en el pueblo de Aseng-Bede. \u00ab\u00bfQui\u00e9n soy yo para juzgar?\u00bb, dec\u00eda el papa Francisco al hablar de los homosexuales. \u00ab\u00bfQui\u00e9n era yo para juzgar a los pol\u00edgamos, los <em>mingenga\u1e45<\/em>?\u00bb. Por eso decid\u00ed ir de pueblo en pueblo para ver c\u00f3mo viv\u00edan los evuzok en sus casas. Hice todo lo necesario para que se pudiera celebrar misa en ewondo y se cantara al ritmo de tambores, tam-tam, maracas y una especie de doble gong. Os invito a escuchar sus canciones, y especialmente la canci\u00f3n de Zibi Engelbert en 1964 sobre la pasi\u00f3n de Jesucristo, con la participaci\u00f3n del pueblo evuzok y el emocionante sonido de los tam-tam que anuncian la muerte de Jes\u00fas <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casafrica.es\/es\/mediateca\/audio\/98-anexo-530901messe-nsola-passio-zibi01-pista-01\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow noreferrer\">(\u25bcanexo 5: 3.09.01)<\/a>. Zw\u00e8 Nguema, un m\u00fasico ntumu que tocaba el <em>mved<\/em>, cantaba casi lo mismo en sus canciones (\u00abverdaderamente, los blancos han venido a transformar las reglas de la vida\u00bb). La bendici\u00f3n fue muy positiva para m\u00ed porque encontr\u00e9 el modo de volver varias veces al pa\u00eds evuzok. Decid\u00ed no volver ya como misionero. Ped\u00ed en Roma que me permitieran volver a ser un simple ciudadano. Me lo concedieron. Comenc\u00e9 entonces a buscar trabajo.
